Trust the Process

Do ever feel like nothing is happening the way you want it to? Like all the plans you had for yourself just aren’t happening? Like things were supposed to happen by now? Like you even had it all thought out. This is something everyone struggles with at one point in life. This deep desire to control our life. But one of the biggest struggles we as humans have is patience and trust. We don’t like those two things. But that is a huge component of what it means to be a Christian. As Christians we are to have Faith in God. Faith and Trust go hand in hand. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (‭‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬‬:‭1‬)

I often find myself caught up in dwelling on my thoughts and desire of how badly I want to be married and having kids already and questioning God why it has not happened yet. As I dive deeper into my feelings to get to the root of the desire, I keep coming up with the desire to be loved and to love. But I have to remind myself that I am loved. I am loved by the almighty Creator, the maker of heaven and earth. I am loved by the King of Kings, the Savior of the world. I am loved by the great I Am who commands my every breath. Why do I forget this? Why do I allow the distractions of the world to pull my thoughts away from Him? Why do I feel the need to be loved when I have all the love I’ll ever need at my fingertips. Why can’t that be enough for me?

I know the Lord is watching out for me, I know His faithful love has endured for my whole life. I know full well He is sovereign over my life. I know full well He has shown His loving kindness and His mercy to me. I need only to trust in His timing and His plan. But it is hard. I want so badly to control my life and to know every step. I want so badly to have a plan and a direction for myself. But I know I need to surrender to my Lord’s plan. I know I need to surrender to His desire for me, not my own. I have to trust that He put this desire in my heart for a reason and He has a plan for me.

We have to rely on God to be our source of strength, to be our guide in the dark path of life. We need to allow our souls to thirst for God by eliminating the distractions that take away or artificially fill that need for God. Having a deep hunger for God takes you actively seeking Him and reading His word. Then, He will reveal himself and His plan to you in His timing. You need only to seek Him and trust Him.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.

Psalms 63:1‭-‬5

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

1 John 4:16

3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. (‭‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow,

he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. (‭‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬‬:‭25‬-‭34‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”
