This one is for everyone whether you are in a relationship or not. It is equally important for a single person to pray for their future spouse as it is for someone who’s been married for 20 years. When you are praying for your spouse you are allowing God to be the center of your relationship. You are putting yourself and your selfish needs aside and putting them first. Praying for your spouse doesn’t have to look the same every time.
If you are single you should be praying that God will prepare them for you and bring them into your life at the right moment. Single or in a relationship, you should be praying blessings over their life. You should be praying for your relationship, that it be strong and focused on God. You should be praying for them as a person to be prepared for you. I probably pray for my future husband more than I pray for any other person. Just because I don’t know who he is doesn’t mean I don’t want the best for him even now. So I pray daily for him. An example of my prayer is as follows;
“Dear Lord, thank you for blessing me with this desire to be married. I pray that your Will be done in my life. Lord, I pray that you bring my future husband into my life at the right time. Until then I pray that you bless him in everything he does. Bless him financially, spiritually, socially, physically and emotionally. That he seeks you first above all else. That he is kept safe from all harm and temptation. Lord I pray that you guide and direct him and that you be the source of his satisfaction. Lord I pray that you prepare him to meet me. Please allow him to feel your presence with him. And Lord I pray that you prepare me to be the wife you want me to be. Show me what I need to do in order to prepare to meet him. Guide me in the way that you want me to go. Amen”
I can’t express to you how vital it is that you pray for your future spouse, because not only does it allow you the freedom to not stress over it, it will also bless them. If you pray over your future spouse it is amazing how God comes through. He will answer your prayers, it may take time, but if it is within His Will, He will bless you in His timing. I have prayed over my future relationship for years now. It has taught me to trust Him completely. Because not only is God’s timing perfect, but He always has a plan for your life and it will happen in His way.
If you are in a relationship you should be continually asking God for wisdom and direction in your relationship. You should be praying that God be in the center of your relationship. Ask God to show you ways in which to deepen your relationship or strengthen it. Pray that He bless your relationship. Praying as a couple is another powerful thing. Pray together about whatever you might be going through, whether it is with gratitude or requests. There is strength in numbers and God will meet you there.
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”
Philippians 4:6-7 ‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ‘
Remember, praying for your future spouse is important, and seeking God’s guidance and wisdom in a relationship is valuable. Praying together as a couple can strengthen the bond. Pray together and pray for each other every day!
