Your relationship must have God at the center. Your relationship will last longer and be significantly deeper and stronger if God is the focal point of the relationship. Pray about every decision you make as a couple. Remember the age old saying “Families that pray together, stay together”? It is so true because God will bless your relationship if you keep Him at the center. Pray every day together, read the bible together, worship together, talk about your faith and where you’re at in it. Talk about your struggles and hold each other accountable.

Don’t allow your significant other to distract you from your relationship with God, you should always be continuing to grow and strengthen your walk with Christ first and foremost before any relationship. Your significant other should be helping your relationship with God, not pulling you away.

Always let God be the guiding light in your relationship and trust Him to develop your relationship in the proper timing in accordance with His Will. Don’t rush God’s timing. God has a plan for your relationship so talk to Him daily about it and trust His plan for you. Sometimes we don’t always like God’s direction or leading for our lives especially when it comes to relationships because that can be a part of us that we like to control.

Unfortunately trying to control your relationships and not following God’s direction can lead to being stuck in a toxic relationship or a relationship that is not good for you in the long run. No matter how good it feels or how perfect they are, God still knows what is best for you, and you need to listen to His direction. You must trust God if you feel him leading you to or away from a certain person. But also make sure it is not just a personal desire. All the more reason to pray together about your relationship, because this will help to align your visions.

God loves to bless us abundantly and one of the best ways to see His hand is to stay in constant communication with Him and give every part of your life to him.
